He was in custody for a short period of time before an imPort took matters into their own hands.

It was one of the country's darker moments in history. We aren't proud of it, but what's done is done.

I understand entirely. Sometimes you need to do things that aren't very nice or pretty to do what's best. There's no denying that.

Oh, please don't get me wrong, Hans. I don't believe it was the wisest decision that imPort made. He had been apprehended and was to be tried under the court of law. We can't have people, imPort or not, playing judge, jury, and executioner.

But he's not causing any more trouble--he can't hurt anybody anymore. Surely that's good, isn't it?

Perhaps, but people can be quite impressionable. We don't want anyone getting the idea it's alright to take justice into their own hands and make it personal.

Isn't that what we're supposed to do, though? We're brought here to be heroes.

But to work side-by-side with us, Hans. You all do have a certain amount of leeway, but killing someone, criminal or not, is still a crime itself.

[ To Hans's credit, he doesn't go 'it's only a crime if you get caught,' though he is DEFINITELY thinking it. ]

And we're supposed to be setting an example, as well.
