CAPTAIN ANANKE ⥛ contact
[ As of Ananke's promotion, she will now only be accessible by phone between 8 AM - 2 PM Monday - Thursday, as she has additional responsibilities and is specifically discouraged from speaking too familiarly with imPorts. ]

[ Still, she sounds proud. ]
Is this really about chronology or something else, Ms. Maryam?
[ ImPorts only ever seem to call her these days when they're looking for something in particular. ]
no subject
Well, it is. But...I suppose it also isn't, in a way. The chronology is important, but...
[ she pauses, as if to rub the bridge of her nose, and lets out a sigh. ] There are certain things occurring that make holes in what we know alarming. I was hoping there might be other sources available, who might know these things directly.
Perhaps you would have seen the article posted to the Network just before the new year. The one claiming to be from "Hans".

I did. I know traces were attempted, but the communicator was long disposed by the time it was found. We don't know who got their hands on it or how.
I can tell you it wasn't Hans. He hasn't been seen in the Porter lab since he was ported out.

But more than just the security breach itself, the information it was used to share somewhat underlined questions raised by other matters, as well. [ and, if ananke saw that message, she probably also saw the ensuing discussion, including kanaya's part in it. which makes this a little more awkward. ] Namely, as regards an imPort who operated under the name "Phantom".

[ A little sigh is heard on her end. ]
I don't have the clearance to access the previous imPorts' files. As I've told someone else, that information I do have is scarce.
I can tell you he consulted for the police. Homicide cases. I know he also appeared in a video that was filmed years after his death, but that you may know already.
no subject
[ but a homicide consultant, that's something she hadn't heard before. ]
Though I can't help feeling your lack of clearance in this case is concerning. Especially when it's becoming relevant currently, or perhaps someone with that information is hoping to make it appear so. But with the Porter active again, there's always the possibility some of those imPorts may return, and then if anything happens that this information may have prevented, it will reflect poorly on both you and us.
I'm sure these are frustrations you've already considered. But, as time goes on, it is something I find increasingly alarming.
[ she's sure those same frustrations were felt by holiday, as well. she remembers what he said to edgeworth on the network, his suspicions that it's the fault of russian spies. ]

[ The ugly truth she's quite sure Kanaya already knows or suspects at the very least. ]
I'm not supposed to be having this conversation with you at all. It's a risk to my job. Captain Holiday was removed from his position in part suspicion he was leaking information to imPorts.
It may be hard to believe, I understand, but please try when I say I accepted this position to continue helping imPorts to the best of my ability. I'm trying to make sense of all that has happened, too.
no subject
No. You're right, and that isn't something I disbelieve. In turn, I'd ask that you please believe that the last thing I intended was to put your position at risk, and if that is what I have done then I apologize.
But I won't take anymore of your time, Captain. Thank you for speaking with me.
